After Second Thoughts, Jose Aldo-Erik Koch Will Remain On UFC 149 Card

Jose Aldo will return to Canada for his next title defense, as the UFC featherweight champion will face Erik Koch at UFC 149 on July 21 from Calgary, Alberta. MMA Junkie first confirmed that bout agreements are likely to be signed very soon.

UFC president Dana White mentioned Aldo as a possible competitor on the UFC 147 card from Brazil that recently lost its main event. However, it appears the camp of “Scarface” doesn’t want to move his next title defense up an entire month.

Koch (13-1) has been the rumored opponent for Aldo with the majority of the remaining featherweight contenders in the UFC tied up in fights. His only loss came at the hands of Chad Mendes, who was defeated by Aldo in his most recent bout.

Aldo (21-1) has defended his UFC featherweight title three times, including the victory over Mendes in Brazil earlier this year.

I really think Aldo was better suited for the Brazilian card, but this should be an easy win for him regardless of where it takes place.
