Co-Main Event Status For UFC 148 Not A Problem As Far As Urijah Faber Sees It

Urijah Faber’s shot at UFC bantamweight champion Dominick Cruz was scheduled to be the featured fight at UFC 148 on July 7. Now, after issues with UFC 147, UFC middleweight champ Anderson Silva and Chael Sonnen will take the main billing at the card.

Faber, who is currently coaching on The Ultimate Fighter: Live opposite Cruz, told MMA Junkie in a recent interview that he is fine with the co-main event spot on the stacked card. Other fights planned for the event include Forrest Griffin-Tito Ortiz 3 and Rich Franklin-Cung Le.

“I’m actually stoked about it. I’m super-excited about that Anderson Silva and Chael Sonnen fight. And to be able to relax and watch that fight right after my victory that night, with a new belt around my waist, it’s going to be awesome.”

Faber and Cruz have split their previous two meetings, with “The Dominator” earned a decision victory last year in July. Faber was the 2007 meeting to defend the WEC featherweight belt.
