Pair Of Injuries Cause Changes To UFC 146 Event

Injuries to Gabriel Gonzaga and Evan Dunham have opened the door for Dave Herman and Jamie Varner to compete at UFC 146 on May 26.

Herman will step in for Gonzaga against Roy Nelson, while Varner returns to the UFC for Dunham to face Edson Barboza.

The UFC’s site confirmed the changes late Tuesday night. Verbal agreements are in place for each bout.

Herman (21-3) lost his last fight to Stefan Struve, halting a three-fight win streak.

Varner, meanwhile, is 19-6-1 in his career. He has competed in both the UFC and WEC, winning his last two fights in the XFC.

That’s lame, I was looking foward to seeing Barboza-Dunham, but I was also looking foward to seeing Dos Santos-Overeem and Mir-Velasquez. Overall this card is shaping up to be a big disappointment. Here’s to hoping that the outcome of these fights make up for what could have been.
