Jon Jones-Dan Henderson Being Targeted For September

Jon Jones’ fifth fight against a former champion from either Strikeforce or the UFC will likely take place September 1, according to a report by Mike Chiappetta of MMA Fighting.

Chiappetta confirmed with UFC president Dana White that the fight promotion is looking to book Jones vs. Dan Henderson for September. No current UFC card is scheduled for the Labor Day weekend.

Jones (16-1) has ran through Mauricio “Shogun” Rua, Quinton “Rampage” Jackson, Lyoto Machida and Rashad Evans since securing a shot at Rua and the belt with a win over Ryan Bader.

Henderson (29-8) has been awaiting his opportunity at “Bones” since a win over Rua last year in an epic five round war. Henderson is a former Strikeforce and Pride champion.

Whenever Jones-Henderson takes place, expect something new out of Jones after his commanding performance against Evans. That was a rivalry fight, and “Bones” took it like that. With “Hendo,” the rising superstar will want to make an impact.
