At tonight’s UFC on FOX 3 event, where Nate Diaz and Johny Hendricks were both, as Dana White had previously stated, fighting for a shot at the title, both men were victorious. As it stands now, it is expected that both men will receive title shots, but just moments ago at the presser, Dana White confirmed at least one of the title hopeful’s wishes would be granted.
When pressed about the lightweight title picture following Nate’s win, and the potential #1 contender bout with Anthony Pettis that had been rumored, Dana had this to say:
Nate will wait for winner of Henderson-Edgar and not fight Anthony Pettis
Ben Henderson vs Frankie Edgar II is tentatively schedule for August, so it will still remain to be seen whether or not the younger Diaz brother will want to wait for the title shot, or take another fight in the meantime, but for now, that’s where he stands.
