It appears that UFC bantamweight champion Dominick Cruz has suffered a torn ACL and will not be able to defend his title against Urijah Faber.
Currently, Cruz and Faber are coaching opposite one another on The Ultimate Fighter: Live. PhyteGurus.com was the first to confirm news of the knee injury suffered by Cruz. MMA Weekly and other media members are also reporting that Cruz is out.
Cruz-Faber was originally set as the main event to the July 7 card from Las Vegas, but the UFC middleweight championship bout between Anderson Silva and Chael Sonnen was shifted to the card. Now, it remains a mystery if Faber will still compete at the card and what will happen to the UFC bantamweight title while Cruz rehabs.
