UFC president Dana White made an announcement Friday night during The Ultimate Fighter: Live, but it wasn’t quite the one everyone was hoping for.
White announced that Urijah Faber’s new opponent for UFC 148 would be named next week on TUF: Live, leaving those to ponder another seven days who it might be.
UFC bantamweight champion Dominick Cruz suffered a torn ACL last week in training, knocking him out of the planned co-main event for July 7.
White has already said that Faber will still fight at the card, and it will be in a match for the interim UFC bantamweight title. The expected recovery time for Cruz is anywhere from nine months to a year, but “The Dominator” said he would be back in less than that on TUF Friday.
Possible candidates to face Faber include Renan Barao, Ivan Menjivar and Michael McDonald.
