Anthony Pettis Unlikely To Face Donald Cerrone At UFC 150

Anthony Pettis’ manager, Mike Roberts, informed MMA Weekly that his fighter would not be able to make a rumored August 11 bout with Donald Cerrone at UFC 150.

While nothing was ever set in stone in regards to the bout, “Cowboy” is pushing hard for the event because he was born in Colorado, Springs, Colorado.

Pettis, who is recovering from shoulder surgery, will not likely be able to fight against until September. A Cerrone-Pettis bout could have been a strong match to produce another top contender in the UFC’s stacked lightweight division.

UFC 150 will feature a bout between Benson Henderson and Frankie Edgar for the UFC lightweight title. Nate Diaz is also expected to be the next man to face the winner after his victory over Jim Miller.

It seems Nate Diaz shall wait for the Benson-Edgar fight to become #1 contender.

Oh, and… would that be too much for Takanori Gomi to face Cerrone then?

Gomi? Really? How well has he done against high level strikers as of late? Im preety sure that match up isnt what Cerrone has in mind!

        I guess you’re right.

Cerrone vs. Edison Barboza would be awesome.

Barboza’s booked for a fight with Varner, but that would be a dope fight.

I realized that he was in a fight, but it’s possible for him to come out healthy and take the Ceronne fight on short notice. Or they just push the fight back and Ceronne doesn’t get to fight on Colorado. It’s the most logical fight for both guys outside of either of them fighting Pettis.

That’s my choice too, barboza on paper should be able to come out of the varner fight with the win and unscathed,so let’s hope that’s what happens

Wow, awesome… let’s see how Barboza does on UFC 146 then… but if Donald has to wait for some good fight, probably a good deal would be put him against Guida x Maynard winner.

I know the UFC doesnt like to match up winners and losers but doea anybody else think a matcu up with Melvin Guillard would be awesome! Maybe they wouldnt fight cause they both trained at Greg Jacksons camp. But it sounds like a great stand up war to me!
