UFC president Dana White met with UFC light heavyweight champion Jon Jones recently to discuss his DUI charge following a night of partying in New York.
White, in an interview with MMA Weekly’s this past weekend, stated that Jones is still scheduled to face Dan Henderson at UFC 151 on September 1.
He is fighting. It won’t affect the date. But how it will affect him in the fight, I have no idea, we’ll see. I’m not involved in all the legal stuff that’s going on. He flew out a few nights ago and sat down with me and Lorenzo (Fertitta) and talked. I like Jon Jones. He’s a good guy, he’s a young kid. He made a mistake and we’ll see what happens.
Jones has an upcoming court day set for Tuesday in Binghamton (New York) County Court on the charges.
