UFC Middleweight Champion Anderson Silva Dealing With Knee Injury

UFC middleweight champion Anderson Silva informed Globo’s SporTV that he is battling a knee injury suffered in training for his planned bout with Chael Sonnen at UFC 148: Silva vs. Sonnen II.

The card is set for July 7 from Las Vegas after it was shifted from UFC 147 in Brazil.

Silva has posted a message on Twitter where he says the knee injury is not serious and that he is, “doing very well thank you!” “The Spider” added to, “stay calm day on July 7 will be doing my job.”

Silva and Sonnen first fought in 2010, with Silva scoring a submission victory in the fifth round.

I hate to call it an excuse because its anderson(the greatest champion ever) but I don’t understand why he woul paint a target on his knee before the fight, chael might not have the best kicks but if he’s smart he’ll at least attack to get a reaction on a break maybe even a leg lock,it just doesn’t make sense to me

yeah, because leg kicks worked so well against Silva in the past. If sonnet kicked him, Silva would catch it and James Irvin him in the face.

Just another excuse to fall back on when he gets pounded by Sonnen again….

Agreed, Silva has already been in there for 5 rounds with Sonnen and was unable to do anything.  Why would he think this time would be different. Granted, Silva pulled of the submission, but incase he doesn’t get the sub this time he needs a reason why he didn’t win.
