UFC president Dana White and matchmaker Joe Silva work long hours to put together incredible fights and fight cards. However, the one thing they cannot control is injuries to scheduled fighters, which has become a recent trend in the sport.
During an interview with the FUEL TV post-fight show, White discussed what needs to be done to help fix this epidemic that has hit such stars as Jose Aldo, Michael Bisping, Vitor Belfort and Dominick Cruz.
I think that’s happening too – and me and Joe Silva were talking about this (tonight) – you have so many talented guys out there now all in the same camp, going at it like they’re fighting for the title. These guys need to tone it down in training a bit and stop hurting each other.
Several intriguing fights have been scrapped due to injuries, as Belfort was set to face Wanderlei Silva, Bisping was removed from a fight with Tim Boetsch, and Cruz had his planned UFC bantamweight title contest canceled with Urijah Faber.
