Urijah Faber has experienced plenty of change for his next fight.
First, Dominick Cruz went down with a knee injury and was forced out of the planned UFC bantamweight championship match.
Now, due to an injury to UFC featherweight champ Jose Aldo, Faber and Renan Barao will meet at UFC 149 in Calgary, Alberta, Canada in July instead of at UFC 148. The Faber-Barao bout will crown an interim UFC bantamweight champion.
“The California Kid” expressed his unhappiness in a recent interview with ABC News 10, but did add that he plans on putting forth a great performance against Barao.
I’m not really happy about all the changes, but there is nothing I can do. The worst part about it; I had a lot of people coming to support me (in Las Vegas) because I had been promoting the same date for the past four months. I was really happy to be a part of that. But my event is going to be awesome as well. Barao and myself have a chance to be fight of the year.
Faber added, “I know there is a lot of great Canadian fans. Style-wise, we match up really great to make an exciting fight, it is for a world title, it is going to be good,” of his fight with Barao.
