Alistair Overeem Not The No. 1 Contender Anymore, Says Junior Dos Santos

UFC heavyweight champion Junior dos Santos doesn’t feel like Alistair Overeem should move right back into a title shot upon his return.

Overeem was denied his fight license recently by the Nevada Athletic Commission, and cannot re-apply until December of this year.

Even when “The Reem” does so, dos Santos doesn’t believe he should move right into a match with him.

“I would like him to do a test – a blood test. I think we both need to do that,” said dos Santos, in a recent interview with ESPN. “I want a clean fight and he needs to prove he is not under any kind of substances. When you have a fight with two ‘clean’ fighters, you will know after the fight who is the real champion. A guy who uses doping is a fake fighter. I think he doesn’t deserve a title shot right now. Overeem needs to have another fight before having a title shot.”

“Cigano” defended his title successfully against Frank Mir earlier this year, as Mir replaced Overeem in the contest. It is rumored that dos Santos-Cain Velasquez II will take place later this year.
