Brian Ebersole picked up his 50th career victory recently, improving his UFC mark to 4-0 in the process.
Along with numbers like that, and a Twitter campaign he started, Ebersole is hoping to land one of the two coaching spots on the upcoming international season of The Ultimate Fighter. The show, called The Smashes, will feature Australia vs. the United Kingdom.
While Ebersole is not a native of Australia, he has spent a majority of his career fighting in the country, and returns there to train on a consistent basis at the ESS performance in Melbourne.
“That’s a dream job,” said Ebersole, during a recent appearance on MMA Weekly Radio. “To be able to pick my staff and to be able to reward some of the people that have really helped me by giving them a really cool job and a really cool challenge, I think would be awesome.”
Ebersole coaches several fighters in the country, so he would have a strong knowledge of the local talent.
Many have speculated that George Sotiropoulos will be named a coach on the show, but Ebersole – or TWAS, The White Anderson Silva – doesn’t feel like he is as deserving.
“To be fair, when MMA started getting a bit big, I went to Australia and I helped Australian MMA, whereas he shunned Australian MMA,” Ebersole said. “He came to America and he very rarely visits Australia.”
