UFC Canada Operations Manager On Injury-Filled UFC 149: ‘It Happens’

Tom Wright, the UFC’s director of operations for Canada, has heard all the talk concerning the injury-marred UFC 149 event set for later this month.

Wright, as he told SportsNet.ca in a recent interview, believes the Canadian fans will still be excited to witness a UFC event filled with several talents and ex-champions.

It happens in our sport; it happens any any sport, team sport, individual sport. I’d be lying to you if I said I wasn’t disappointed. But the one thing I can absolutely guarantee you is that all the athletes that are going to be competing at UFC 149 in Calgary on July 21 are world-class athletes. We have former champions; these guys will perform and it’s going to be a great event and come Sunday morning, they’re going to be asking when we’re coming back.

UFC 149 will feature a main event for the interim UFC bantamweight title between Urijah Faber and Renan Barao. Such fighters as UFC featherweight champion Jose Aldo, Mauricio “Shogun” Rua and Antonio Rodrigo Nogueira have all been forced off the card either due to injuries or changes in their planned fights.

Wright is insulting our intelligence by saying how great 149 will be despite all the less-thans on the card! the problem with the UFC is they operate like any other business…same price tag on a product disguised to be great but really is full of nothing!
