Anderson Silva On UFC 148: ‘Play Time Is Over’

UFC middleweight champion Anderson Silva showed a very different side to himself during Tuesday’s pre-fight press conference.

“The Spider” chuckled at some questions posed to him, seemed amused by some of the answers given by Chael Sonnen, and even answered some of his own questions in English.

Silva and Sonnen will square off this Saturday night at UFC 148 in the main event. Two years ago, Silva submitted Sonnen in the fifth round, and the challenger has been working back for another crack at Silva ever since.

While Silva remained more calm than he did earlier during a conference call, he did continue to reiterate his plans to demolish Sonnen.

Play time is over. It’s over. Saturday, a lot of things are going to change; things are going to be much different after Saturday.

Silva was asked about Sonnen being able to stand and trade with him, which the Brazilian replied, “For him to be able to strike with me standing up, he has to be a magician. It’s impossible for him to do that.”

“The Spider” said he has trained 100 percent for his fight and believes that will result in the bout, “ending in the first round.”
