UFC light heavyweight champion Jon Jones has been granted a delay in his DUI sentencing to complete a drug and alcohol abuse program, according to the Binghamton Press & Sun Bulletin.
Jones crashed his Bentley into a pole back in May, causing minor injuries to himself and his two passengers. He was charged with DUI, booked and eventually released from county jail.
The judge gave “Bones” until July 31 to complete the course, which he is taking near his home in Ithaca, New York. Failure to complete the program could result in serious time in jail for Jones.
Inside the Octagon, Jones is scheduled to make his return against Dan Henderson in September at UFC 151. The issues outside the Octagon should not cause any problems with the planned fight.
