Chael Sonnen Discusses Loss To Silva, Possible Retirement

Chael Sonnen didn’t head back to Oregon and sulk after his loss to UFC middleweight champion Anderson Silva.

Instead, Sonnen shuttled over to FUEL TV to help the UFC with the weigh-in, pre- and post-fight shows for UFC on FUEL TV: Munoz vs. Weidman.

During the weigh-ins on Tuesday, Sonnen offered up an interview for the first time since the loss to Silva.

Sonnen said that he has no plans to appeal the loss despite some talk that he might after Silva appeared to put vaseline on his body, grabbed his shorts and caught him with what many thought was an illegal knee. The knee did appear to catch Sonnen in the chest after replay.

As for that retirement talk, here’s what Sonnen had to say:

I don’t think any athlete should even begin to talk like that or even think like that until you let 30 days go by. You don’t want to make a decision based on emotion.

It remains to be see what is next for Sonnen, but he has called out several Brazilian fighters other than Silva, so there are options.

Yep everything u mentioned in the article above is true, Silva played it dirty.. Truth is tho, this was a very disappointing fight, overall.. It just wasn’t that good of a fight. I expected a lot more.
