Former Bellator lightweight champion Eddie Alvarez has agreed to fight this October in what could be his final appearance inside the Bellator cage.

Alvarez will have his contract expire after he fights on October 15 from Windsor, Ontario, Canada. No opponent has been made official, but one is expected to be announced shortly, according to a report by MMAFighting.com.

Alvarez (23-3) has been long-rumored to be joining the UFC’s lightweight division, but Bellator will have exclusive matching rights for three months following his October bout. After that, Alvarez is free to sign with any promotion he wants.
