It didn’t take the UFC long to find a new home for UFC on FX 5, or a new opponent for Travis Browne.
Browne, who was forced out of a planned match with Ben Rothwell recently, will headline the UFC’s return to Minneapolis on October 5 against Antonio Silva. UFC officials announced the news early Friday morning.
UFC on FX 5 was originally set to go down from Indianapolis, but issues forced a change in date. When the venue was unable to be secured, the UFC was forced to find a new home.
Browne (13-0-1) and Rothwell were scheduled for UFC on FOX 4, but Rothwell suffered an ankle injury and was knocked out.
Silva (16-4) was dropped by Cain Velasquez in his UFC debut earlier this year. He was part of a large group of heavyweights who entered the UFC after Zuffa purchased Strikeforce.
