Frankie Edgar Believes UFC Lightweight Belt Is Still His

Former UFC lightweight champion Frankie Edgar doesn’t like the sound of that word former.

Edgar will seek to become the 155-pound champion again when he takes on Benson Henderson in the main event of August 11′s UFC 150: Henderson vs. Edgar II card.

Henderson scored a decision victory over Edgar earlier this year, claiming the title and status as top lightweight in the UFC.

“The fight was close, it was controversial, and now it’s my turn to get a rematch,” said Edgar, during a recent preview video for the event. “Benson Henderson will not defend the belt because the belt belongs to me.”

Edgar was forced to give rematches to BJ Penn and Gray Maynard. “The Answer” claimed the belt from Penn, and earned another decision in the rematch. He fought Maynard to a draw before scoring a stoppage victory in the third encounter between the two.
