Jon Fitch-Erick Silva Added To UFC 153

The UFC is making the most of its next trip to Brazil, adding a welterweight showdown between Jon Fitch and Aaron Simpson.

Ariel Helwani confirmed late Monday night that Fitch and Silva have signed verbal agreements to meet in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil this October at UFC 153.

UFC 153 currently boasts a title match between UFC featherweight champion Jose Aldo and contender Erik Koch, along with bouts between Quinton “Rampage” Jackson and Glover Teixeria, and Alan Belcher and Vitor Belfort.

Fitch (23-4-1) is coming off a loss to Johny Hendricks via KO and a knee injury that knocked him out of a planned encounter with Aaron Simpson.

Silva (14-2) will be competing in his native country. He has gone 2-1 in his UFC career, including a recent victory over Charlie Brenneman.
