Winner Of Mauricio ‘Shogun’ Rua-Brandon Vera Saturday Night Receives UFC Title Shot

Well, the UFC has decided to place a heavy importance on this Saturday night’s UFC on Fox: Shogun vs. Vera main event, as the winner will receive a shot at the UFC light heavyweight title.

Former champion Mauricio “Shogun” Rua will face Brandon Vera from Los Angeles. Current champ Jon Jones is set to defend his title against Dan Henderson later this year.

“The Vera-Rua winner gets the shot,” UFC president Dana White said Monday during a conference call. “Guys that are fighting on Fox are guys in line for world title shots.”

Rua lost the belt to Jones last year, while Vera stepped up to take the shot. White cited Vera’s decision to take this fight as a reason for adding the No. 1 contender spot to the bout.

Dana must be pretty confident that shogun is gonna win, because there is no way bv deserves a shot with a win

I agree! How is it that Vera is in any way considered for a shot at the title? He was released and now he’s back for a chance at the title? Whats next? Obama gets reelected?

I agree, but he wasn’t cut because the fight was overturned. He’s been back and fought Eliot Marshall since that fight with Thiago Silva.
