BJ Penn Motivated To Defeat Rory MacDonald In Toronto

Former UFC champion BJ Penn has been questioned about why he would come out of his self-imposed retirement to face Rory MacDonald.

Penn and MacDonald are set for September’s UFC 152 card from Toronto, Ontario, Canada.

Well, in a recent interview with MMA Weekly, Penn discussed his reason for taking the match against the rising star from Canada.

Everyone’s like this is a dream fight for Rory as he can get motivated, but what they’re going to find out soon is this is my dream fight going up there and beating him in Toronto, in his hometown, in front of everybody.

Penn was defeated by Nick Diaz last year, and announced his retirement following the loss. It has been rumored that “The Prodigy” would come back and fight at least once more, but MacDonald was not the expected opponent.

Penn carries a record of 16-8-2, while MacDonald is 13-1 with his lone loss coming to Carlos Condit.

Extremely tough fight for sure, but no chance? C’mon man…BJ has been one of the best in the world, and Rory MacDonald just turned 23.
