Fox To Use ‘Ref Cam’ For Saturday’s Broadcast

Fox Sports continues to move towards making every event more viewer-friendly.

This Saturday night, at UFC on Fox: Shogun vs. Vera, the Ref Cam will be used for the first time.

In a press release by the company, the Ref Cam will be placed on the referee’s shirt and give viewers a new view to see the fight action.

The Ref Cam will be along the same idea of the Catcher Cam or Diamond Cam that Fox uses for baseball games, and the Gopher Cam during NASCAR races.

UFC on Fox: Shogun vs. Vera will feature light heavyweights Mauricio “Shogun” Rua and Brandon Vera in the main event, and Ryan Bader and Lyoto Machida in the co-main event.

UFC president Dana White said he had no interest in the use of the camera during a pre-fight press conference, but did say he was always open to new things.
