Cung Le Excited To Main Event First UFC Card In China

Former Strikeforce champion Cung Le knows that he will be idolized by accepting the UFC’s offer to compete against Rich Franklin later this year.

That’s because the bout is expected to be the main event for UFC on FUEL TV 6, which takes place November 10 from Macau, China. It will mark the debut for the UFC in the country.

Le’s a huge star in that part of the world. Along with being from South Vietnam, Le is an actor who has been featured in several high-budget movies.

After earning his first win over Patrick Cote, Le revealed that he suffered a nasty foot injury. He is currently awaiting his release by his doctor before he can make the Franklin bout official.

“I’d love to fight for the UFC in China for the first time. I’m going to do everything in my power to get there. I have not signed yet,” said Le, during a recent appearance on FUEL TV. “I’m just waiting to be released (by the doctor). They have to follow procedure, but I think I’m going to get it.”

Le is 8-2 in his career, while Franklin (29-6-1) is a former UFC champion. The two were originally set to met last month before Franklin took a fight with Wanderlei Silva.
