Benson Henderson Excited To Still Call Himself UFC Lightweight Champion

Benson Henderson did enough in the minds of two judges Saturday night to retain the UFC lightweight title.

Henderson earned a split decision victory over former champion Frankie Edgar in the main event of UFC 150.

While many disagreed with the decision when it was raised, “Smooth” felt energized and ready to for another few rounds.

“I’m pretty happy to get the ‘W’ and get my hand raised,” said Henderson, during the post-fight show on Fuel TV. “I’m not that tired. I did two-and-a-half weeks of my camp in Flagstaff (Arizona) before the fight. I felt I should have pushed the pace a little more in the fight.”

Henderson attacked Edgar’s lead-leg early, causing bruising and redness on his calf. That seemed to hamper the attack of “The Answer” in the first round, but Edgar stormed back.

“Frankie is so good and so tough,” Henderson said.
