UFC president Dana White was asked what is in store for UFC middleweight champion Anderson Silva next during a recent post-fight press conference with members of the media.
“Anderson said he wants to take some time off until after the end of this year,” White said (thanks to MMAWeekly.com for the quote). “We’ll start talking to him (after the year).”
Silva defeated Chael Sonnen to defend his title once again.
It’s been mentioned that several middleweight fights being put on by the UFC in the coming months will help determine a No. 1 contender in the 185-pound division. Chris Weidman is about the only member of the Top-5 that is not currently signed to a fight.
Michael Bisping and Brian Stann will battle in September, while Vitor Belfort and Alan Belcher are locked into a bout in October.
