Chael Sonnen broke his own fight news on UFC Tonight Tuesday evening, making it official that he will face Forrest Griffin.
The bout will go down December 29 and likely serve as the co-main event to a main event featuring UFC heavyweight champion Junior dos Santos defending his title against Cain Velasquez.
Sonnen confirmed that the bout will take place at 205 pounds, as he begins his transition into the division. He also made a remark about not moving right in and taking Jon Jones’ belt, saying it was, “sportsmanship in earning your fight.”
In his last bout, Sonnen was defeated by UFC middleweight champion Anderson Silva. On the same card, Griffin toppled Tito Ortiz.
