Sarah Kaufman is a former Strikeforce women’s champion.
Now, she’s in the role of hunter as she tries to claim the belt from Ronda Rousey.
Strikeforce: Rousey vs. Kaufman takes place Saturday night on Showtime from San Diego.
After suffering her first career loss to Marloes Coenen back in 2010, Kaufman (15-1) has been on the championship chase. She’ll get her opportunity to become the first fighter to defeat Rousey this evening.
I focused on my camp. I worked with my team. I trained harder than any other fight because I train has if that is the most important fight that is happening. I feel really confident going into this fight.
Kaufman’s 2010 loss to Coenen came via armbar submission. That’s the same hold Rousey has used to win every single one of her MMA fights to date.
You don’t come in and play patty cake. At the end of the day, someone is going to walk out with the belt and I want that person to be me.
