Anderson Silva Offered To Save UFC 151, Just Not Vs. Jon Jones

UFC middleweight champion Anderson Silva has competed at light heavyweight a few times in his career, including a knockout victory over Forrest Griffin.

After UFC president Dana White announced that UFC 151 would be canceled due to Jon Jones refusing to face Chael Sonnen on short notice, White received a phone call he was not expecting.

Silva, according to MMA Fighting, Ed Soares phoned White and told him Silva was willing to take a fight at 205 pounds. “The Spider” said he wouldn’t face Jones, but would compete in the main event to keep the card on the docket.

White explained that it was too late to keep the card from being called off completely, but White expressed his appreciation for his willingness to step in.

Silva is expected to return to the middleweight ranks in 2013, according to previous reports by White.

“expressed his services” ? Seriously I think you should stop writing until you can go more than 100 words without making grammar mistakes.

I wonder if Ed sores knew they couldn’t undo the canceled event and figured it would look good on Anderson’s public relations. Either way, I like the way Anderson invited Sonnen to his house for a BBQ. I’m more of a fan after the last Silva fight then ever before.
