Coach For Dan Henderson Details Injury That Knocked Him Out Of UFC 151

Daniel Wiorin, the muay thai coach for Dan Henderson, informed Fighters Only Magazine that “Hendo” actually suffered his knee injury three weeks ago in training.

“Dan Henderson got hurt three weeks ago sparring when he went to defend a takedown. He had to be away from training for two-to-three weeks. It was very difficult for him to refuse the fight. All the team had to convince him not to do it.”

The UFC announced on Thursday that the planned Henderson-Jon Jones main event fight for UFC 151 would be canceled. Plans were made to keep the card alive, but those fell through.

As for Henderson, he has stated that surgery will not be needed and he hopes to return as soon as possible.

Wiorin added that Henderson tried to do a final sparring session “to evaluate his condition and he really didn’t have the chance to fight with Jones. It is so depressing for everybody.”
