‘King Mo’ Lawal Rehabbing His Way Back From A Torn ACL

Former Strikeforce light heavyweight champion Muhammed “King Mo” Lawal is currently on the sidelines for two reasons.

First, Lawal is rehabbing from a torn ACL that is only about 70-percent healed. Second, he is suspended until September due to a failed post-fight drug test.

When Lawal does return, he will do so in Bellator Fighting Championships. Lawal is also signed to compete in TNA, a wrestling promotion that will air on Spike TV alongside Bellator in 2013.

“The knee rehab is going real good,” said Lawal, during a recent interview with MMAjunkie Radio. “I’m back to hitting mits and kicking and everything, so I’m feeling good and I’m looking good.”

Lawal (8-1) has also had to battle through a Staph infection that nearly claimed his life. His suspension was reduced from a year to expire here next month, but the knee injury is likely to keep him out of action until 2013 in terms of MMA.

“I’m doing pro wrestling this fall,” Lawal said. “I’m excited about it. I’m going to try to blow people’s minds.”
