UFC light heavyweight champion Jon Jones has dealt with trash-talk from several opponents.
When Dan Henderson started referring to “Bones” as a kid, and calling him sloppy for some of his inside-the-Octagon actions, Jones took exception.
Here was Henderson, a world-class wrestler, calling him out much like Quinton “Rampage” Jackson and Rashad Evans had done before.
Well, we all know by now that the Jones-Henderson bout failed to take place due to a knee injury suffered by “Hendo.” And, it appears that Jones believes Henderson was lucky that he did pull out of the fight.
“Dan Henderson called me a kid 1,000 times leading up to that fight and we never even fought,” said Jones, in an interview with the Toronto Sun. “He came out with this ad that say, ‘Buy a Hendo shirt and get a free Jon Jones shirt to dry your car off with. You’re making fun of me, yet you got hurt and dodged a bullet? You’re sitting at home with ice on your knee and I’m here doing push-ups again because I thought my camp should have been over. You should shut up and be grateful you dodged a bullet.”
Jones took much of the heat from the UFC 151 fallout, but it appears that he has heard enough of that. Next up for Jones will be Vitor Belfort at UFC 152 later this month.
