Kenny Florian Proposes Interesting Idea For Fights Lost To Injury

Kenny Florian knows exactly what kind of punishment training for a fight inside the Octagon takes.

Now, as a commentator with several of the Fuel TV and FX events for the UFC, Florian is on the outside looking in when it comes to fights being canceled due to injuries.

The latest bug hit UFC 153 hard on Tuesday, as UFC featherweight champion Jose Aldo was knocked out of a main event fight with Frankie Edgar, while Quinton “Rampage” Jackson removed himself from a bout with Glover Teixeira.

What do you think about Florian’s proposal? Could it work?

Sure if the UFC gives him a paycheck. You have to remember it takes about 20g to pay for coaches training partners etc..

Agreed. Sounds good with pay, although it may be tough to get a main event fighter to train for a maybe when he could be signing a definite…

Only downfall of that, is that the champion will pull out with a little injury, knowing that the UFC wouldn’t be screwed.

I think the best solution would be ust to have the co main event to title fights be in the same weight class wotj a couple of possible contenders and at least one more fight in the same weiggt class closer to the undercard, lets say you have jon jones vs Dan hendo, you can put sonnen, shogun, machida, rashad vs anybody relevant, then have guys like hamill, ravioli maldonado, cyrill diabatr,or tehuna further down in the card,in case you need to pull a fighter from the co-main to replace an injured main eventer, you can still save the co main with someone from the undercard that is somewhat relevant and probably willing to take a step up in comp on short notice
