Stephan Bonnar Embracing Role Of Underdog Vs. Anderson Silva

Stephan Bonnar knows that not many people will be giving him much of a chance when he steps inside the Octagon next month.

That’s because the fighter standing across from Bonnar will be UFC middleweight champion Anderson Silva.

Silva, who will be moving up to 205 pounds to help provide a main event for UFC 153, is considered one of the pound-for-pound best fighters in the world.

Bonnar, meanwhile, is on a three-fight win streak, but was considering retirement before the offer to face Silva was presented to him. “The American Psycho” was the runner-up on the inaugural season of The Ultimate Fighter, and has faced such men as Forrest Griffin, Jon Jones, Rashad Evans and Lyoto Machida.

13-1 isn’t good enough for me to bet on him; at least add a zero. The only logic I can see Bonnar having (besides the paycheck) is that since he couldn’t get a win, or a chance for a win in a 3rd fight against Forrest, then he would feel better about himself if he could do better than Forrest did against Anderson. He can’t do much worse, but it should be close. Can’t wait for this fight though – can you imagine if Bonnar actually won in Brazil? Wow…

If bonnar somehow manages a win, anderson’s ufc career will have a very ugly stain on it.
