Vitor Belfort Knows He Is Carrying The Flag For Brazil Each Time He Enters The Octagon

Vitor Belfort is proud of his heritage.

The Brazilian, who is a former UFC champion, will look to wear gold again when he takes on Jon Jones later this month at UFC 152.

Belfort, during a recent interview on UFC Tonight, discussed the long-line of strong Brazilian fighters to grace the Octagon.

I am a fan of all of them. Like from a fighter perspective, career perspective, we have all kinds of talent. We have these guys, the young guys, the old guys, Royce Gracie, Mauricio Rua, you know, we have guys that came and are no longer in the UFC like Pedro Rizzo.

Belfort also mentioned the younger generation of UFC fighters such as Jose Aldo and Renan Barao, who are both currently champions in their respective weight classes.

As for “The Phenom,” he feels as though the decision to train in Florida with the Blackzilians has helped focus his attention back to MMA.

Everyday, I go to the gym and I see the new breed of fighters. I see them train and I really get energy from them and I try to use everything they have to take it in and learn new techniques and new moves.

Why is it every country outside the USA (regardless of sport) has to boast their heritage instead of just participating in the event and doing the best they can? The animosity they create results in bad blood that seems to never go away….

When has someone being proud of there country and heritage create animosity and bad blood? Nothing wrong in being proud of who you are and where you come.from. I mostly witness american fighters create animosity and bad blood, especially against fighters of another heritage. Such as chaels and kos…..

Have you been living in a cave??? it has nothing to do with the heritage; It’s called learning good sportsmanship! Think about this. Every UFC in Britain, Canada, etc. has to have at least one hometown fighter in EVERY match. Are people really that shallow?!? I’ll answer that…YES!!!
