Vitor Belfort Embracing Opportunity Presented To Him

Vitor Belfort has worn the UFC light heavyweight and heavyweight title. He is known as “The Phenom.”

Belfort will attempt to become the UFC champion yet again when he takes on Jon Jones tonight at UFC 152.

After a loss to Anderson Silva last year, Belfort regrouped, winning each of his past two fights. He opted out of a meeting with Alan Belcher to face Jones, the current UFC 205-pound champion, and a fighter considered to be the face of the new generation.

To have the opportunity to fight Jon Jones – the young lion against the old lion – is a great opportunity. I can’t wait to fight.

Belfort helped the sport of MMA grow from the start, competing alongside the likes of Randy Couture, Tito Ortiz and Chuck Liddell. Now, several years removed from his debut, the Brazilian is able to look back and be grateful for where he is at now.

Thank all of you guys for making the sport what it is today. I have been fighting for so long, and we worked really hard for a platform like this.

Belfort owns 14 career knockout victories and is 21-9 in his career.
