Heavyweights Shane Carwin and Roy Nelson will settle their differences on December 15 at The Ultimate Fighter 16 Finale, UFC officials confirmed on Tuesday.
The two fighters, who can currently be seen coaching their respective teams on TUF, will meet in the main event at The Joint at Hard Rocks Hotel and Casino. The card will also feature the finals of TUF.
“Roy Nelson has gotten under Shane Carwin’s skin all season, and Shane’s ready to try to knock him out,” UFC president Dana White said. “I don’t expect this one to go the distance. Roy and Shane were civil to each other on ‘TUF,’ but they can’t stand each other and after having to spend six weeks together, Shane said he can’t wait to knock Roy out.”
TUF currently airs Friday nights on FX. The fighters are in the opening round of elimination fights.
The UFC also made official several other fights, as Mike Pyle faces James Head; Nick Catone meets TJ Waldburger; Rustam Khabilov battles Vinc Pichel; Reuben Duran tangles with Hugo Viana; and Johnny Bedford meets Marcos Vinicius.
