Former Ultimate Fighter winner John Dodson does everything fast.
Dodson quickly caused turmoil when he entered the TUF house before running through the competition just as fast.
Now, Dodson is prepared to place himself in a championship match with UFC titleholder Demetrious Johnson – if he can take care of Jussier Formiga Friday night at UFC on FX: Browne vs. Bigfoot.
The UFC has announced that the winner of Dodson-Formiga will be the first challenger to Johnson’s reign. “Mighty Mouse” just captured the title by defeating Joseph Benavidez late last month.
I want the fight against DJ. We are the two fastest fighters in the UFC, and I want to match my speed against his. Some people say he’s the fastest, some people say I am; we got to fight to see who is the fastest. I really want to match what I got against what he’s got.
Just as quickly, though, Dodson made sure to turn the attention towards Formiga, who has been called the best flyweight in the world before.
I have to make a statement Friday night against Formiga. Formiga is the best fighter in Brazil, he’s got phenomenal BJJ and his striking has improved a lot, too. I will knock him out.
Dodson is 13-5 in his career, including UFC wins over Tim Elliott and T.J. Dillashaw.
