Minotauro Nogueira ‘Happy, Healthy’ To Be Back Fighting At UFC 153

Antonio Rodrigo Nogueira is a legend in his native country of Brazil.

However, Saturday night will mark just the second time Nogueira has been able to compete in Brazil. “Minotauro” will face Dave Herman at UFC 153 in the co-main event from Rio de Janeiro.

After having his arm injured in a loss to Frank Mir, Nogueira has put in plenty of time rehabbing. So much, in fact, that he feels he’s gotten stronger.

I’m very happy to be back. My arm is healthy and I’ve rehabbed it so hard I think it is now stronger than my other arm. I had to work hard for so long to get my strength and power back, and I am so happy to be fighting in Rio.

Nogueira (33-7-1) earned a knockout victory over Brendan Schaub last year in his first-ever fight in Brazil. He’ll be looking to do the same vs. Herman, who has been outspoken in regards to Nogueira’s Brazilian jiu-jitsu skills.

“Dave Herman is a good wrestler, has a great double-leg and is a big guy,” Nogueira said. “He talks smack about BJJ but he’s not fought someone with submissions like me before. I will knock him out or submit him.”
