Daniel Cormier Will Pick Up Pieces After News Of Strikeforce’s Cancellation

Daniel Cormier just wants to fight.

Cormier, a former Olympic wrestler, has been waiting patiently on the sidelines for news of his opponent for November.

Originally, “DC” was to face former UFC heavyweight champion Frank Mir from Oklahoma City on November 3. However, Mir was injured in training, but Cormier was told he would still compete.

On Friday, the promotion announced that they had cancelled the planned event completely, leaving Cormier several more months to sit and wait to fight again.

“Very sad about not fighting but at the end of the day something positive will come from it,” Cormier posted on Twitter. “More time to train. I am with a good company…Things will be ok. Very sad and upset but it’ll work out. (UFC, Strikeforce, Showtime Sports) are all top fight organizations. Will be fine.”

Cormier is expected to join the UFC following his next Strikeforce appearance. It remains to be made public if he will compete in January on the next Strikeforce card, or if the Zuffa will work out an agreement to get him into the Octagon before that.
