UFC middleweight champion Anderson Silva has grown familiar with facing pressure.
As the longest reigning UFC champion, each time Silva enters the Octagon he knows his opponent will be giving him everything.
Tonight, “The Spider” won’t be defending his title, but he will be putting just as much on the line when he steps inside the Octagon to face Stephan Bonnar at UFC 153.
This is a tricky fight for me. “For me, it is very important to retire undefeated, and I want to retire undefeated in the UFC. If I have the chance, I will finish this fight in one round.
Bonnar has never been stopped, making it even more difficult for Silva to continue his string of non-decision wins. The last time the Brazilian went to the scorecards was 2010.
Stephan Bonnar is a great fighter; his story is a big part of the UFC. He’s a big, big guy but I feel good not to have to cut weight to middleweight. I will have more speed, more agility than him.
