Jon Fitch needed a win as much as anybody Saturday night at UFC 153.

Fitch made sure to impose his grinding-style on Erick Silva, defeating the rising star and even securing the Fight of the Night bonus for his efforts.

After a draw with BJ Penn, a knockout loss to Johny Hendricks, and several months spent on the sidelines due to an injury, Fitch talked in the lead-up to his bout about needed money to help take care of his family. He was given $70,000 for his performance vs. Silva, as was the Brazilian.

Antonio Rodrigo Nogueira picked up the Submission of the Night for his armbar on Dave Herman, while Rony Jason earned Knockout of the Night after stopping Sam Sicilia. Jason was one of many Nogueira-trained fighters on the card.

The attendance inside the HSBC Arena in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil was 16,844, while officials estimated the live gate between $2.5 and $2.6 million.

Anderson Silva defeated Stephan Bonnar in the main event, earning his 16th UFC victory.
