Former UFC champion Rich Franklin will finally face Cung Le next month.
The two were expected to square off earlier this year, but Franklin (29-6-1) opted for a main event bout with Wanderlei Silva. “Ace” won that, improving to 3-3 in his last six.
Le, meanwhile, earned his first UFC victory by defeating Patrick Cote. The former Strikeforce champion is 8-2 in his career, including a loss to Silva. However, Franklin knows to expect a dangerous opponent come November and UFC on Fuel TV 6.
“What makes his kicks so effective is the fact that he doesn’t mind throwing them because his wrestling is so good,” said Franklin, during a recent appearance on Inside MMA. “He may not be much of an offensive wrestler in this fight, but it may be difficult to take him down. He’s a good defensive wrestler and that could come into play.”
Franklin and Le will be main eventing the first-ever UFC card to take place in China. The event goes down November 10 from the CotaiArena in Macau.
