Fresh off his impressive submission victory over Wagner Prado, Phil Davis will step in and meet former UFC light heavyweight champion Forrest Griffin at UFC 155.
The announcement was confirmed by UFC officials on Friday. Davis steps in for Chael Sonnen, the original opponent for Griffin.
The two will comprise the co-main event for the year-end card on December 29 from MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas.
Davis (10-1) got back on track with the win over Prado. Earlier this year, he was defeated by Rashad Evans and had an encounter with Prado end in a no-contest after an eye poke.
Griffin (19-7) topped Tito Ortiz in his last fight, improving to 3-1 in his previous four.
