Former Strikeforce champion Miesha Tate put everything she had into a fight with Ronda Rousey.
In the end, Tate was on the wrong end of a submission loss, dropping the title to Rousey.
After all the glitz and glamour of the high-profile main event fight had passed, Tate was down, as she told MMAjunkie.com in a recent interview.
That was at probably my lowest point of lows. But I had to tell myself that really I still have a lot of love for MMA and I don’t want to walk away from it.
Tate (13-3) returned to the cage to face Julie Kedzie this past August, earning a submission victory. The end result, however, was that she still didn’t feel that sense of excitement she had felt prior to the Rousey contest.
I know what I need to do, and it’s just a matter of doing that and giving myself the time I need to be Miesha for a little bit. I think I’ve put MMA at such a high priority on my list that it burnt me out a little bit.
Tate has won seven of her last eight fight. Four of those wins have come by way of submission, with another a head-kick knockout of Sarah Oriza.
