Glover Teixeira Not A Fan Of Chael Sonnen, Believes Jon Jones Will ‘Massacre Him’

Glover Teixeira is viewed by many as one of the few fighters in the world today that could give UFC light heavyweight champion Jon Jones a run for his money.

However, Teixeira is likely still a few fights away from competing for the title, as he stands just 2-0 with the UFC.

In a recent interview with the Brazilian news source Tatame, Teixeira was asked his opinion on Chael Sonnen, who was announced as the next contender to Jones.

I think Jon Jones will massacre him. Chael Sonnen will not do anything. I do not see Sonnen winning in any way. It may happen, though, because a fight is a fight, but I think it will be quite difficult.

Teixeira also said he doesn’t believe Sonnen deserves a shot at the belt, the same thoughts many others have reflected since the announcement was made.

I really do no like to see his fights. Sonnen is boring to watch sometimes. Has some fights that are good, but very few. It is usually a boring fight, but the guy speaks and sells fights.

Teixeira is currently medically suspended for several months, but has been mentioned as a possible opponent for Quinton “Rampage” Jackson if the former UFC light heavyweight champion is willing to wait for him to be cleared.

“Glover Teixeira is viewed by many as one of the few fighters in the world today that could give UFC light heavyweight champion Jon Jones a run for his money…..”

Oh, really? By whom? You know, because Glover Teixeira has beaten such an impressive list of UFC washouts and nobodies. Way to beat Ricco Rodriguez about 15 years after he was relevant in pro MMA.

Seriously, where do you guys come up with this stuff? The only person claiming that Glover Teixeira is a threat to Jon Jones is Glover Teixeira himself. Let’s see him beat a top ten guy before we get the hype train rolling on this one.

Chael Sonnen. Kenny Florian. Joe Rogan. Dana White.

All at one time or another have remarked that Teixeira is a viable candidate to contend for the UFC title.
