The UFC’s annual Super Bowl weekend card has a main event, as UFC featherweight champion Jose Aldo will defend his title against Frankie Edgar.
The bout was confirmed on UFC Tonight Tuesday. Initial reports had Aldo-Edgar taking place in January in Brazil, but the fight will now go down in Las Vegas on February 2.
Aldo (21-1) has not fought since January, when he bested Chad Mendes via first round knockout. Injuries to “Scarface” have kept him on the sidelines.
Edgar (14-3-1) accepted a short-notice match with Aldo after Erik Koch was injured, but that was scrapped when Aldo himself pulled out with an injury.
Aldo-Edgar joins Rashad Evans-Antonio Rogerio Nogueira as fights for the card. Evans-Nogueira has not yet been confirmed by the UFC.
