A lightweight collision between Donald Cerrone and Anthony Pettis is in the works for January 26 and UFC on Fox 6, according to a report by MMAjunkie.com.
The event will likely take place in Chicago, and could serve as the headliner fight or the co-main event.
Cerrone (19-4) and Pettis (15-2) were set to collide earlier this year at UFC 150, but Pettis continued to have issues with his shoulder and was forced to have surgery. “Cowboy” went on to defeat Melvin Guillard instead, and has been pushing for the match with “Showtime” since.
Pettis (15-2) is a former WEC lightweight champion who was targeted for a title shot before falling to Clay Guida. Cerrone is 6-1 in his UFC career, while Pettis is 2-1.
